HakoCut

HakoCut · v1.0 · mac · windows · ios · android

A video editor
that takes direction.

Open a project, type what you want, watch it happen on a real multi-track timeline. No prompt-to-MP4 black box. Free to edit, no watermark, on every platform you own.

An honest pitch

Every other AI video editor is a chat panel duct-taped to a timeline someone else built.
HakoCut isn’t. The agent edits the same multi-track timeline you do, with the same 80+ actions you have in the toolbar — split, trim, ripple, beat sync, color, masks, exports. You can watch each step happen, undo any of them, or just hit Execute All.

Edit by chat.

“Cut the dead air and tighten the boundaries.”

Vision reads your clips. The agent returns a numbered workflow — analyze, detect silence, ripple delete, trim. Review the plan, run it, or step through one at a time. Every action is the same one in your toolbar; nothing is hidden.

  • 80+ AI workflow actions
  • Vision-aware
  • Reversible per step

Make from a prompt.

“Make a whiteboard explainer about solar panels.”

Three creation modes — stock footage montage, whiteboard explainer, animated explainer. Each is a full pipeline: fetch assets, generate narration, build the timeline. Land on a real editable project, not a sealed MP4.

  • Stock + TTS + music
  • Hand-drawn animation
  • Character scenes

Continue on the train.

“Same project. iPhone in your pocket. Mac at the desk.”

Sign in once. Rough cut on the desktop, caption fix on the phone, restore a checkpoint from anywhere. Local-first by default — cloud sync is opt-in, and your media never leaves the device unless you say so.

Multi-track timeline, masks, graph editor for easing curves, the full Premiere-shaped toolbox. The AI just happens to know how to use it.

Editing is free. Always.

No watermark. On every platform. AI generation uses credits — you get some to start, and you can bring your own API key. Teams plans add shared workspaces, version history, and Manager Mode.

Questions

All four apps are live: Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android. Same editor, same AI agent, same project format.

You chat in natural language. The model returns a JSON workflow with steps like remove_silence, trim_clip, add_transition. You review and execute. Each step mutates your real timeline.

On mobile, the agent runs on-device after a model download. On desktop, local MLX models handle inference when available. Cloud is fallback for generative features.

Yes. Pick Stock Footage, Whiteboard Explainer, or Animated Explainer in chat. Each runs a full pipeline: asset fetch, TTS, timeline assembly.

Editing is free, no watermark on export. AI generation uses credits, and you get some to start.

CapCut paywalls basics and keeps desktop shallow. HakoCut gives you a real multi-track timeline, 80+ AI workflow actions, and the same project everywhere.

Yes, when you sign in. Rough cut on Mac, caption fix on Android, same project. Sync is opt-in; files stay local by default.

Yes. Teams plans add shared workspaces with roles (owner, admin, editor, viewer), an activity feed, and a video-editor-friendly version history with one-click restore. Restores fan out to every signed-in device — iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, and the web.

No. Every checkpoint and every unnamed edit is kept. Restore picks an existing version as the new head and your timeline jumps to it; the previous state is still in the timeline and one click away. If you were mid-edit, the app shows a conflict-safe prompt before swapping.
